MELE, Dorothy A. (Oteri) of Belmont, entered into rest on Wednesday, September  7 , 2011, in the Mt. Auburn Hospital in Cambridge.  She was 84 years of age.  Dorothy was born in Belmont and was a lifelong resident.  She Was a graduate of the Belmont High School, Class of 1944 and a 1947 graduate of Mt. Auburn Hospital, School of Nursing.  Dorothy also attended Boston College School of Nursing and Northeastern School of Business. She was a retired Medical Administrator Surgical Supervisor at Mt. Auburn Hospital, also retired from IRS Tax Payer Service division and retired nurse from Mt. Auburn Hospital.  Dorothy volunteered with the Red Cross for 15 years, the Scouts, and CCD Teacher at St. Joseph Parish.  She also worked for the Town of Belmont as an election day poll worker.   Beloved wife of the late Frank D. Mele.  Daughter of the late Orazio "Harry" and Nancy Oteri.  Dear and devoted mother of Frank D. Mele, Jr. and his wife, Patricia of Sudbury, Dorothy A. Varga and her husband, Richard of N. Andover and Stephen Mele and his wife, Susanna of Wellesley.  Sister of Harry Oteri, Florence Oteri and Nancy MacIsaac of Belmont and the late Rose Elton, Frank Oteri, Margaret Calabrese, Anna Howe and Emily Youell.  Loving grandmother of Emily and Sarah Mele, Brian and Kevin Varga and Mark, Christopher and Andrew Mele. Funeral from the Short, Williamson & Diamond Funeral Home,  52 Trapelo Road, BELMONT, Monday, Sept. 12 at 8 a.m.  Funeral Mass in St. Joseph’s Church, Common St., Belmont, at 9 o’clock. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Sunday 2-6  p.m.  Interment Belmont Cemetery.  Late member of the Maria Montessori Lodge, OSIA, Belmont; Espousal Prayer Community; Lay Stigmatine Associate; Third Order of Mary-Marists; and the Arlington Catholic Women’s Club.   Contributions in her memory to the American Cancer Society,  30 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701,  would be sincerely appreciated.

Dear Dorothy, Frank and Steve,
I'm sending you all my thoughts and prayers your way. Your mom had been apart of my mom's circle of friends forever. She had such faith and strength in her beliefs. She will be dearly missed.
