Elaine, I am truly saddened by Al's passing.  He was a wonderful, caring man. He always reminded me of my own Dad which made me not only love him, but hold a special place in my heart. He was a friend to everyone. I will miss him. I am so thankful to have had the chance to hear his  band play many times.
I will keep you in my prayers during this difficult time.
Warmest Regards to the entire family.
Carol Penta

I had the honor of playing trombone in Al's big band over the last dozen years or so, at the gigs in the North End and at the Beech St. Center.  He was one of the sweetest people I've ever known in the music business, or anywhere else for that matter.  I so enjoyed his phone calls where he would talk about his experiences in the music business and the old days in the North End.  I'm so glad the obituary stated "He was the consummate gentleman, and a model for all."  That's precisely how I felt about him, and what better epitaph can one ask for.  Riposa in pace, Al.  We miss you already.

My sincere and deepest condolences to the family of Al. He was a dear friend to Ray for many years. Al was a kind and talented man whom my father thought the world of. May they jam up in the heavens together now. God Bless.
