Barbara Marion Gardner, 78, of Hingham, MA, entered into eternal rest on January 6th, 2025. Born in Cambridge in 1946, she was a lifelong resident of Belmont until her move to Harbor House in Hingham.
Barbara was the youngest of three daughters born to Myles and Elizabeth (Riordan) Gardner. She is survived by her sister, Katherine Eiseler and her husband Werner of Duxbury, MA, and was predeceased by her sister, Elizabeth Bolanz, and her husband Rudy of Belmont, MA.
Barbara was a graduate of Belmont High School and attended Hickox Secretarial School. She worked as an executive secretary at the Boston Stock Exchange for many years, a job that she thoroughly enjoyed. She later worked for several years at Abt Associates in Cambridge.
A devout Catholic, Barbara was an active parishioner throughout her life. She was deeply involved at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Belmont and later at St. Luke's Church in Belmont where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life. She cherished her family and never missed acknowledging a birthday or anniversary, always taking the time to celebrate those she loved.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews: Lisa Patterson (David) of Niagara Falls, NY; Krista Donnelly (Ted) of Duxbury, MA; Eileen Maguire (Kevin) of Cape Coral, FL; and Michael Bolanz (Jillian) of Cumberland, ME. Barbara also leaves behind six great-nephews: Thomas and Sean Donnelly; Cameron, Andrew, and Nathan Bolanz; and Kevin Maguire.
A wake will be held at 9:00 AM on Saturday, January 11th at St. Luke’s Church in Belmont, followed by a funeral Mass at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Barbara’s memory to CatholicTV at PO Box 9196, Watertown, MA 02471.
