Constance Duncan Obituary

DUNCAN, Constance Lee (Garvey), 84, 0f Belmont and West Yarmouth passed away peacefully on Monday, January 21, 2013 following a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.  Connie, beloved daughter of Albertina (Juneau) Garvey and John Garvey, was born in Salem, MA on March 22, 1928.  Educated at the Horace Mann School in Salem, she graduated high school as the Salutatorian and attended Simmons College on full scholarship as a member of the Class of 1949.  Later in 1967 she continued at Simmons Graduate School to earn the Master's degree in Library Science.  She kept a strong connection with Simmons by maintaining life-long friendships with those who attended Simmons with her.  Her interests included reading political commentaries and intriguing mysteries, listening to classical music, especially opera, and savoring the beach on Cape Cod.  She particularly enjoyed watching programs about travel that brought back memories of her life in the 1950's when she served in Europe as a member of the Air Force Civil Service.  After over 25 yearswith the Winchester school system, she focused in retirement on competing in duplicate bridge tournaments, traveling to Canada, Washington D. C. and even Bermuda.  She had almost reached her goal of achieving the level of Life Master when she was over whelmed by the aggressive onset of Parkinson's.  Connie was the loving mother of Nina Lee Duncan and dearest grandmother of Jessica Jane Groeneweg.  Donations in her memory, if desired, may be made to any organization dealing with Parkinson's Disease.  There will be a private graveside service.  For online condolences, please go to http:/www.swdfuneralhome.com.
