Jaime (Jim) Miranda of Belmont died on Sept. 18, 2025 from complications of dementia. He was 87.
Jim was born in Sewell, Chile and came to Waterbury, CT with his family when he was in high school. He graduated from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and later earned an MSEE from Northeastern University. He spent his career working for several Boston engineering firms as an instrument engineer and project manager for power plant construction and traveled widely in the Middle East and South America during those years.
He was one of the founding board members of Belmont Youth Soccer and served for many years as a referee and coach.
Jim is survived by his wife of 65 years, Barbara; his children Patty Miranda Harlow (Spencer) of Arlington, MA; Chris Miranda (Ann) of Darlington, PA; and Tim Miranda (Liz) of North Chelmsford, MA; and eight grandchildren: Miranda, Kevin, Matthew, Katy, Mara, Sophie, Penny and Charlie. He also leaves 6 great-grandchildren.
