TRAVIA, John S. of Hanover, formerly of Watertown and Belmont, entered into eternal rest Monday, March 23, 2026 in the South Shore Hospital.  He was 97 years of age.  Born in Belmont, John lived in Watertown for many years before and he and his late wife, Nannette settled in Hanover these last 7 years to be near their children. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged.   John, a college graduate with two Master’s Degrees, was and Electrical Engineer and retired from the Raytheon Corporation after many years of employment.  John had a knack and the ability to fix things. Just give him a hammer and see what he could accomplish.  But his biggest joy was being able to spend with his loving family  John was the dear son of the late Samuel and Antonina (Giuffre’) Travia; the beloved husband of the late Nannette A. (Romeo) for  over 65 years prior to her passing in 2022; devoted father of Susanne Fantasia and her husband, Anthony of Braintree and Joanne McCann and her husband, Joseph of Hanover; loving Papa of Nicole Fantasia, Danielle Fantasia and her wife, Karen Fantasia, John Paul McCann and his significant other, Jennifer Gardner and Jennifer MacKenzie and her husband, David; and loving Great-Papa of Lincoln Fantasia, Maizey MacKenzie, Lyla MacKenzie and Harper Fantasia. John was the dear brother of the late Catherine Maloof.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend John’s visitation in the Short, Williamson & Diamond Funeral Home,  52 Trapelo Road, BELMONT, Friday, March 27, 2026 at 10 a.m.  followed by a funeral home service at 11 a.m.  Interment with U.S. Army Military Honors at Belmont Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in John’s  memory to The Hanover VNA Community Foundation, Inc.,P.O.
