Joseph John Grande

GRANDE, Joseph John of Watertown Jan. 10.  Beloved husband of Gloria (DeAngelis) for 53 years.  Dear and devoted father of Joseph and wife, Karen; Vincent and wife, Barbara and Nancy Vareschi and husband, Robert.  Loving grandfather of 5 exceptional grandchildren: Krista Grande, Angela Grande, Joseph Grande, Nicolas Grande and Madeline Vareschi; also 2 wonderfull step-grandchildren: Colleen and Matthew Kasprzak.  Brother of Pat Grande and wife, Anna, the late Sam Grande and his surviving wife, Lorraine and the late Dominic Grande and wife Penelope.  Brother-in-law of the late Mary Fawley and her surviving husband, Rick, John and Eleanor DelRaso, Joseph and Anne DeAngelis, the late John DeAngelis and his surviving wife, Brenda, Carmen DeAngelis and Tony DeAngelis and wife, MaryEllen.  Joe also leaves many wonderful nieces and nephews.  After graduating from Rindge Technical High School, he joined the U.S. Air Force (1951-1955) serving in Korea. He worked at MIT, Draper Labs for 33 years as a lab technician, working on a guidance system for NASA Space Program, later helped in construction of Linear Accelerator in Middleton, MA.  In ’84 & ’85 he enrolled in watch repair night classes.  He received his certificate, became a member of American Watchmakers Association and opened “The Watch Workshop” in Belmont in 1988.  Joseph had many friends and acquaintances with whom he loved to chat and share some of his abundant knowledge.  He was never at a loss for words.  Services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Joseph’s memory to  Children’s Hospital of Boston,  300 Longwood Ave., Boston, MA 02115 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN, 38105 would be sincerely  appreciated. www.swdfuneralhome.com  Arrangements by: Short, Williamson & Diamond Funeral Home-Belmont
