Lourdes E. (Echeveste) Alvarez

ALVAREZ, Lourdes E. (Echeveste) of Belmont,  entered into rest unexpectedly, on November 29, 2013 in the Mt. Auburn Hospital in Cambridge.  She was 94 years of age.  Born in Caibarien, Cuba, Lourdes had lived in Belmont for many years.  She was a retired teacher at the University of Massachusetts in Boston.   Beloved wife of the late Celestino J. Alvarez.  Dear and devoted mother of Lourdes M. Alvarez of Belmont. Loving sister of Santiago Echeveste of Chicago, Alberto Echeveste of Mexico, Miriam Palmerola of Waltham, and the late Laura Lopez and Carmen Miyares.  Lourdes is also survived by many dear nieces and nephews.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Lourdes’ visiting hours in the Short, Williamson & Diamond Funeral Home,  52 Trapelo Road, BELMONT, Thursday, Dec. 5   from 4-8 p.m. Her  funeral will be from the funeral home on Friday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Joseph’s Church, 130 Common St.,  Belmont, at 10:30 a.m.  Interment will be private.  In lieu of flowers,  contributions in Lourdes’ memory to the Eternal Word T.V.
