Vitiello, Mary A., age 98, of Belmont, passed away on December 26, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born in Boston, to Tina and Ralph DeCunto. She graduated from Roxbury Memorial High School, Burdette Business College, and attended Boston College night school. Early in her career, Mary held numerous positions at Northeast Airlines. She was subsequently employed for many years as a Small Business Officer for the US Department of Transportation where she helped numerous minority small businesses compete for government contracts. Mary was enormously proud of her Italian heritage. She was an active member of the Dante Alighieri Society of Boston, the Circolo Letterario Italiano, and the Pirandello Lyceum. Beloved wife of Franco Vitiello for 64 years, loving mother of Caroline and her husband Jeffrey Miner of Belmont, Christine (Tina) and her husband Eric Lange of Wellesley, Frances and her husband Dan Hansen of Wellesley, and Maria and her husband Luke Bowen of Sudbury. Cherished grandmother of Emily (Bryan Harnsberger) and Luisa Lange, Michelle and Erika Hansen, Zoe Miner, and Matthew Bowen. Dear sister of the late Vincent DeCunto. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church, 130 Common Street in Belmont on Friday, Dec. 31 at 10 a.m. Interment has been postponed . Due to the rise of COVID-19 cases, there will be no visitation or reception.
