Patricia K. (Joyce) Collins, “Pat,” a life-long residence of Belmont and a devoted and loving wife, mother, nana, great-grandmother, mother-in-law, and friend passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, April 27th at the age of 90.
Pat was Born on November 4, 1935, to the late John Joyce and Celia (Goff) Joyce. She graduated from Belmont High School in 1953. She went on to attend Chandler Secretarial School. In 1961, Pat married the love of her life, John “Jack” Collins, and they enjoyed 45 years of loving marriage. She is predeceased by Jack as well as her three sisters, Elaine, Marge and Nancy, lovingly referred to as the Joyce sisters. Pat is survived by her five children, John J. Collins, III, David P. Collins and his wife Cheryl, Eileen C. Collins, Kathleen M. Menounos and her husband Theodore, and Amy P. Scopa and her husband Jason as well as 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Pat also leaves behind her sister-in-law, Patricia Turner, and many nieces and nephews.
Pat loved listening to Frank Sinatra and watching the Bruins, and she absolutely cherished spending time at the New Hampshire beach house she built with her husband. She lived for spending time with her grandchildren there and anywhere else. She delighted in their lives, filling their days with warmth, laughter, love, and cookies. Her laughter was contagious; she was a gentle spirit and was a steady presence in her family’s life. Though our hearts are heavy, we are grateful for the time we had with her and the countless memories. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Visiting hours will be Monday, May 4th from 8:30-10:30 a.m. at Short, Williamson & Diamond Funeral Home at 52 Trapelo Road, Belmont, MA. Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM will follow at Saint Luke’s Church, 132 Lexington Street, Belmont, MA. Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Winchester, MA.
