Ralph J. Castagno, Sr.

CASTAGNO, Ralph J. ,Sr. of Belmont, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 in the Sancta Maria Nursing Facility in Cambridge.  He was 86 years old. Ralph was born in Belmont and was a lifelong resident.  Ralph was a retired letter carrier working out of the Belmont Post Office.  Beloved husband of Lois A. (Marsh) for over 64 years.  Dear and devoted father of Ralph J. Castagno, Jr. and his wife, Lynne of Tyngsboro, Michael H. Castagno and his wife, Doris of Arvada, CO, Sandra Castagno of Belmont and the late David A. Castagno. Brother of Eleanor Iannazzi of Waltham, Marie Vesprini of Everett and the late Alphonse Castagno, Joseph Castagno, Rachel Waldschmidt, and Frances Spera.  Loving Papa of Ralph J. Castagno, III, Christine M. Foster, Jenny Luthye, Crystal Castagno, David Castagno, Sydney Castagno, TJ Rhone and Kylie Rhone and loving Papa G of 8 great-grandchildren.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Ralph’s visiting hours in the Short, Williamson & Diamond Funeral Home, 52 Trapelo Rd. BELMONT, Friday, Nov. 3 from 6-8 p.m. His funeral service will be in the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m.  Interment with U.S. Air Force Military honors at the Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ralph’s memory to the New England Center for Homeless Veterans, 17 Court St. Boston, MA, 02108 would be sincerely appreciated.
